An independent business reception counter in warm daylight, a desk phone on the wood under a soft violet glow.

The whole offer, in five lines

No asterisks below this. If a term is not here, it is not part of the trial.

What it costs
Nothing to start.
No credit card. You verify your business phone number instead.
How long it lasts
14 days or 100 minutes of real calls — whichever comes first.
A busy front desk can reach the minutes before the days. Both limits are real.
What you get
A real phone number and a working assistant that answers, books, and hands off to you.
Recordings, transcripts and call summaries for every call, in one dashboard.
What you change
One call-forwarding rule on your existing line.
Your number stays yours. Remove the forward and calls ring where they always did.
Optional extras
Scheduling and SMS are available as add-ons during the trial.
Square, Acuity and Google Calendar booking are add-ons, not part of the base plan.
At the end
Continue with a card, or don't — we hold your account and number for 14 more days before releasing them.
Nothing is charged unless you add a card and choose to continue.

Before your first real call

Four steps, and the last one is the point: you call your own assistant and hear it work before a single customer does.

  1. 1

    Verify your number

Confirm the business line you want Voka to answer for. This replaces a credit card as the thing that proves you are a real business.

  2. 2

    Connect your calendar

Square Appointments, Acuity or Google Calendar. Voka reads your real availability, so it can only offer slots you can actually work.

  3. 3

    Say who you are

Your greeting, your services, your prices, and the handful of questions callers actually ask. Ten minutes here is what separates a generic bot from something that sounds like your shop.

  4. 4

    Call it yourself

Before you forward a single customer, ring your own assistant and try to book. Try to confuse it. This is the step people skip and then regret.

The graduated rollout

Don't hand over the phone on day one

The businesses that stay are the ones that started with the calls they were already losing. You are not replacing anything in week one — you are picking up what currently goes to voicemail. Every phase below is reversible, and you can sit in any of them for as long as you like.

  1. A closed shop at night, chairs stacked on the tables and the street empty outside, with a single desk phone lit on the counter.

    Phase 1The after-hours pilot

    Weeks 1–2

Start with the calls you would have missed anyway.

Voka answers only when you are closed. Your open hours do not change at all, nobody on your team does anything differently, and the only calls it touches are the ones that were going to voicemail. There is no downside case here — the worst outcome is that a call you were already losing stays lost.

    What to watch

    • Listen to three to five recordings a day — that is the whole job in week one
    • Who is calling after close, and what they are asking for
    • Anything the assistant got wrong about your services or prices

    Move on when

You have heard enough calls to predict what it will say, and you have fixed the two or three things it got wrong about your business.

  2. A desk phone in the foreground of a busy shop counter while the owner serves a customer behind it.

    Phase 2Overflow, plus after-hours

    Weeks 3–4

Let it be the safety net, not the replacement.

After-hours answering carries on, and Voka now picks up during open hours when your line is busy or nobody reaches the phone. Instead of hold music or voicemail, the caller gets a conversation. Your team can still take any call they are free for — the assistant is the fallback, not the front door.

    What to watch

    • How many calls it catches that would have rung out
    • Bookings that landed on the calendar without anyone touching the phone
    • Where your team wants it to hand over sooner

    Move on when

Your team stops flinching when it picks up, and you can see on the calendar what it booked while you were with a customer.

  3. A stylist working with a client at the back of a plant-filled salon while the desk phone sits ignored in the foreground.

    Phase 3Full coverage

    Month 2 and on

You have heard it work. Now let it work.

Voka answers everything, and the phone stops being an interruption. You can still carve out hours you want handled by a person, and complex calls still come to your team — this is not an on/off switch so much as a default that you keep tuning.

    What to watch

    • Booking patterns you could not see when calls went unanswered
    • Questions that come up often enough to be worth adding
    • Which calls you still want a human on

    Move on when

Nothing to advance to. Keep refining the greeting and the answers — that is what turns a generic assistant into yours.

Phases can be skipped, and you can drop back to an earlier one at any time — a seasonal slowdown, a new staff member, a week you want the phone back. There is no forced progression and nothing to un-sign.

Which one should you switch on first?

All four are just call-forwarding rules on your existing line. Pick one, change it whenever.

After-hours only

Start here
What it does
Forwards your line to Voka when you are closed, and only then.
Best for
Everyone, for the first two weeks. Especially a solo owner with nobody to cover the phone.
Trade-off
You will not see what it does at your busiest, because it never runs then.

Overflow only

What it does
Forwards a call to Voka when your line is busy or goes unanswered after a few rings.
Best for
A front desk that already answers well but drops calls at the peak.
Trade-off
Volume is unpredictable, so it takes longer to gather enough calls to judge it.

Both

What it does
After-hours plus overflow. The most common steady state before full coverage.
Best for
Weeks three and four, once you have heard how it handles your callers.
Trade-off
Two rules to keep straight if you change your opening hours.

Primetime (all calls)

What it does
Every call goes to Voka first, around the clock.
Best for
Owners who are already certain, or a business with no one on the phone at all.
Trade-off
Skips the two weeks of listening that is what makes the assistant sound like you. Possible from day one, and not what we would advise.

What happens when the trial ends

If you do not continue, we hold your account and number for 14 more days before releasing them. Continuing takes a card — during the trial or at the end.

Paid plans start at $19/month and are month-to-month — no setup fee, no cancellation fee, no contract. If you want to keep going, you can add a card during the trial or at the end; nothing is charged before you do.

And if you stop, your line goes back to ringing exactly where it rang before. Removing the forward is the same two minutes as setting it up.

Trial questions

Do I need a credit card to start the free trial?
No. You start by verifying your business phone number, not by entering card details. A card is only needed if you decide to continue — either during the trial or when it ends. Nothing is charged before that.
How long is the Voka AI free trial?
14 days or 100 minutes of real calls, whichever comes first. Both limits matter: a busy salon or clinic can use 100 minutes in well under two weeks, so the trial ends on minutes rather than days.
Do I have to change my phone number?
No. You keep your existing business number. Voka is given its own number, and you forward your line to it — for all calls, or only after hours, or only when your line is busy. Removing the forward puts everything back exactly as it was.
Can I try it without letting it answer real customers?
Yes, and you should. Once your greeting and services are set, call your own assistant and try to book an appointment before you forward anything. Most people find one or two things to correct, and it is much better to find them yourself than to hear them on a recording of a real customer.
What is the safest way to roll it out?
After-hours first. For the first two weeks, let Voka answer only when you are closed — those calls were going to voicemail anyway, so there is no downside. Once you have listened to a few days of recordings and corrected anything it got wrong, add overflow during open hours, and move to full coverage after that if you want it.
What happens if it gets a call wrong?
You will know, because every call is recorded, transcribed and summarised in your dashboard. Calls it cannot handle go to your team, and you can change the greeting, the answers or the booking rules yourself at any point. You can also remove the call forward entirely and go back to answering as you did before.
What happens at the end of the trial?
If you do not continue, we hold your account and number for 14 more days before releasing them. Continuing takes a card — during the trial or at the end. Paid plans are month-to-month with no setup fee and no cancellation fee.
Does the trial include calendar booking?
Scheduling is an optional add-on, available during the trial. With it connected, Voka reads your real availability in Square Appointments, Acuity or Google Calendar and books into it during the call. Without it, Voka still answers, handles your questions and captures the caller for you to follow up.
